[Aliexpress Leggings Review] Shinbene Classical 3.0 Buttery-soft Leggings Review

Price: RM95.43 (Discounted to RM87 with vouchers)
Brand: Shinebene Colorvalue

Review: 10/10

I bought these leggings from Aliexpress way way back in July 13th and it was shipped out in July 16th. It was delivered a few days ago on August 14th, so about a full month of delivery time, which is rather long, but quite expected. Even pre-Covid, it would take Aliexpress an average of 4 weeks to arrive to Malaysia. As usual, the waiting time is probably a few days shorter if you're in West Malaysia.

Here is what the tracking looks like as it gets closer to delivery. Don't be too worried about 'import clearance failure' since that generally just means it's taking a while longer than usual to clear customs. I seem to get this notification when I'm just buying jewelry from Aliexpress too.
Shinbene on Aliexpress is really highly recommended by youtubers and Facebook groups. Shinbene specializes in sports apparel and is based in China. These are the priciest pair of leggings I have ever gotten, but I am also really curious about the quality of the Aliexpress pants vs Shopee pants, which uses similar pictures and claim to be made from similar composition, 80% nylon, 20% elastane.

After a lot of indecision regarding the color and sizing, I decided to get it in my normal size xs, which is a size 4. My normal pants size is 's', but size 4 appears to match better according to the size chart.

After a lot of indecision regarding the color and sizing, I decided to get the Shallow Lotus Ash color in size xs, which is a size 4. My normal pants size is 's', but size 4 appears to match better according to the size chart. Reviewers mostly say to size down when in between sizes because the material is very stretchy. I kind of wish I had sized up, to be honest. Maybe gone with my normal size S, which might have given me more length. I like my leggings to be below the ankle and size XS left it a little bit above my ankle even though it fit pretty perfect everywhere else.

They have sizes XXS-2, XS-4, S-6, M-8, and L-10 and so, so many colors to choose from.

My current details:
Height: 157cm
Weight: 47kg
Waist: 64cm
Hip: 87cm

Most of my fat goes straight to my hips and thighs, so size S would have fit better for me. There's very little compression in these pants even though I had sized down to XS and I honestly think if I got it in size S, I could actually wear these to sleep. That's how comfortable these pants are. I would get this in a size bigger if I were to get another pair, which I am so, so tempted to do.

The material of these pants are amazing af omg. They're really buttery soft and like the Uniqlo Leggings that I tried before, but better. I did cardio and kettleweight workout in these and they stretch well with maybe a tensy bit of cameltoe.

There is no front seam and the cutting is absolutely perfect. I love everything about it. Snug around the waist without being suffocating and comfortable at the hips and it isn't suffocating my ankles, like the uniqlo.

So far, this is the favorite pair of leggings that I have gotten.

Would I repurchase? Yes, but when it's discounted. At full price, RM95.43 is quite a steep price and the long delivery time of ~1 month generally gets me really impatient.

[Shopee Leggings Review] yuanjiasport.my Shopee Malaysia Leggings Review And Refund Experience

Price: RM70.73 (Discounted to RM45.97)
Brand: Yuanjiasport.my

Review: 3/10

Continuing my obsession with leggings, I purchased a pair from Shopee (which has literally everything). I made this order on the 19th July and received it on the 30th of that same month, which is amazing delivery time. It will undoubtedly be faster if you were in West Malaysia since I'm in East Malaysia and the sorting warehouse in KL is swamped.

Yuanjiasport.my appears to be a sports apparel shop that's based in China and I chose this particular pants because of it's double nylon design and the 80% nylon and 20% spandex composition of the material, which promises to be a more comfortable fabric. The reviews on the clothing seems pretty good too.

They have so many colors available and after much hemming and hawing and putting every single color available into my cart and careful process of elimination, the color that I chose was the garnet red, which looks absolutely wonderful. I love garnets (the gemstone) and figured I would enjoy a legging that would match my garnet bracelets.

Instead, this is what I got:
Words cannot convey the amount of disappointment I felt upon receiving this. Lol. What color even is this? And what's with all the stitching falling apart already? I took the picture yesterday as soon as the items arrived, so these fraying and unraveling of stitches is already happening before I even put it through the wash. I dread to think what would happen if I were to actually put it in the machine. Would the whole thing just disintegrate? Only time will tell.

Just to make the point even clearer. This was the color I expected to get:
I took several more pictures and asked the seller if they sent me the wrong color and if I should be worried about the fraying and I received two answers which boiled down to:

1) Yes, this is garnet red. Pictures on the shopee site will be different because of monitor differences.

2) The fraying is reinforced sewing and it's normal.

I thought, alright, maybe I'm making a fuss out of nothing. Maybe I'm color blind. Maybe stitches are supposed to look like that and I'm just ignorant. But it was at the moment I remembered that I do own other pairs of leggings that I can compare this to. Lo and behold, no frays or fuzzies or 'reinforced stitching with bits sticking out'.
This is the uniqlo leggings that I've purchased before and have been through the wash several times and none of the stitches are fraying. The original selling price is rather similar too. It was RM79 and discounted to RM59 (compared to original price of RM70 and discounted to RM46). That's a RM13 price difference (after discounts) and the difference in quality is so vast. The cutting is so much neater and the material on the uniqlo leggings has a better compression (although it does tend to be a bit too tight on me).

Alright. Maybe the color is just really intense on their screen. Two can play that game. I played with the color saturation filter on my camera and got this:
Grey-purple at best. I put red packets (ang pows) at the side to confirm that I'm not colorblind and that I know what red is supposed to look like. Lol.

The thing is, though, the material of the Shopee Leggings are actually not that bad. It's soft and comfortable to wear and hugs at my body quite comfortably. The 80% nylon and 20% spandex composition means it is very stretchy and soft, while still being sturdy enough that I don't have to worry about ripping it when I'm doing more vigorous exercises, though it is still thin enough that you'd have to wear seamless underwear or it will tell everyone exactly what type of underwear you're wearing underneath.

Regardless, I would have been happy if 1) the color was accurate and 2) the seams weren't falling apart already.

The seller gave me a vague, "We will give you discount at your next purchase". I considered taking the offer at first before remembering the last time I accepted such vague terms on an unsatisfactory product, I was given a RM2 discount on further purchases. Lol. Macam kena tipu. Also, the more I look at the frays, the more disappointed I felt.

There are many cheaper options in shopee and in that shop itself. I thought that by buying a pricier pair, I would be getting one of higher quality. That is obviously not what happened here, though I do have to say that the quality of the material itself is pretty good. It really is just the color and stitching that disappointed me.

I always feel a little bad opening refund requests, but money is money and if this were to happen to any local stores, I would just bring it in store and gotten it exchanged for the right color (and probably found a better quality). Since it's based in China, that's not as simple.

So, I opened a refund request. For the RM45 pair, I opened a refund request for RM40, expecting the seller to counter offer with something lower.

Shopee has this neat new feature where we can haggle with refunds, which I am very tickled by. I haven't needed to open a refund on shopee for years and didn't know when this new feature was added, but it's super cool and I am very impressed by it. Kudos to you, shopee! :D

The seller countered with an offer of RM10.

I was totally expecting a counter offer, but to be honest, at this point, I was kind of having fun with the ability to counter offer. My friend jokingly told me to counter with RM39. Lol. I countered with a RM20, figuring that would be a reasonable middle ground to meet at, which is still less than half of the RM46 I paid for the pair.

The seller countered back with RM10.

Woi. This isn't how haggling works. 😅

But at this point, I've accepted the seller isn't going to go above RM10 and brought the dispute up for shopee to handle.

Partly, I'm curious about how shopee would handle this since I recalled the last time I brought up a clothing dispute with shopee (3-4 years ago?) with the seller in china sending me the wrong color, wrong size, and wrong design (just wrong everything lar), shopee cs responded with 'return shipping to china mahal (expensive) and clothes can still wear wad~'. I received a partial refund (less than half) for that purchase, but I'm still a bit miffed by it since those clothes have continued to be literally useless to me.

Today (31st July) is a public holiday, so Shopee probably won't be able to help with anything. I'll update this post as it continues though! For now, I'm giving the item a 3/10 due to it's comfortable material.

Update: Shopee acknowledged that there was something wrong with the leggings, the colors, fraying, ect, but also said that because China is so far away, returns would cost too much. They refunded me RM15.  I'm feeling rather meh about it, to be honest, but it's better than nothing, I suppose.

I'm torn on whether I would recommend the seller. Perhaps I am just unlucky and have gotten a bad pair, since the other reviews on the site have been quite positive, but I have also noticed some reviews sharing that the colors are not true to the real item. The vibrant, lovely colors displayed on the screen all look more grey in reality.

If you do decide on getting a pair from this seller, I'd recommend asking for a picture of the item before playing an order to avoid disappointment. :) Or maybe go with the black pairs. Can't go wrong with that one. XD
