[Swanicoco Review] Swanicoco A.C. Control Care Emulsion (for Acne & Sensitive Skin)

(received from Swanicoco in exchange for an honest review)
Verdict: 8/10
Repurchase: Maybe

Product & Packaging

Swanicoco is a South Korean cosmetic company that has been around since 2005 and prides itself for it's patented raw component and nano-fermented formulations, using natural extracts in it's products. They launched in Malaysia Watson store recently and I was so lucky as to get to try some of the products prior to the launch.

In addition, they matched me with May from the Swanicoco team, who worked with my skincare issues in order to choose some products that would match my skin type better. Seeing as acne is one of my problems, she recommended the A.C. Control line, including the Toner and Emulsion.

The A.C. Care line specializes in acne treatment and it's special formula balances out water and oil on the skin, leaving the skin fully moisturized afterwards. It is made with natural and organic ingredients.

The A.C. Control Care skin emulsion is aimed for people with easily irritated skin, dealing with redness and spot, or teenagers first starting their skincare.

The packaging is really good! Personally, I love these pump designs bottles since it keeps the product sanitary. The glass bottle design does tend to be a little heavy, but kind of adds to the luxury of the product, making me feel extra fancy when I'm using it. :P There's 120ml of product, which isn't much when I first looked at it, but seeing as the bottle is probably going to last me about 7-8 months with once a day of usage, it's well worth it!

Ingredients

Full ingredients list: Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Water, Hydrolyzed Algin, Zinc Sulfate, Butylene Glycol, Heptyl Undecylenate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Isopropyl Myristate, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Erythritol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ceramide NP, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Diheptyl Succinate, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Glyceryl Stearate, Allantoin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Azelamide MEA, Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Artemisia Annua Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract, Helichrysum Arenarium Extract, Azadirachta Indica Leaf Extract, Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Glycerin, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Tocopherol, 4-Terpineol, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Cedrus Atlantica Bark Oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Polysorbate 60, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Arginine

Cosnda has hydrolyzed algin on a  4 as possible acne trigger and irritant. It's actually one of the star ingredients in the toner as well! It's a seaweed (algae) water binding agent that can help condition and hydrate the skin. It contains rich minerals and fatty acids and according to swanicoco, is a gentle exfoliant that can remove dead skin cells and encourage skin regeneration.

Tea tree is a naturally healing ingredient that is widely used to calm troubled skin. I enjoy the smell of tea tree in my products and the inclusion of tea tree in general just calms my acne-prone skin greatly! Tea tree has antiseptic and anti-fungal properties that helps to treat blemish-prone skin. It is also able to reduce oil and sebum production. The product uses tea tree leaf water instead of purified water.

There are plenty of ingredients here that are present in the toner, but there are some that aren't, such as the salix alba (willow) bark extract, which aids in removal of dead skin cells as well as sebum control.

There's nothing else jarring that shows up on cosdna, which is great. ^^ I see lots of plant extracts which can act as anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic ingredients, such as helichrysum italicum extract and scutellaria root extract. Sodium hyaluronate is added as a humectant and is hydrating for the skin.

Swanicoco A.C. Control Care Skintoner & Emulsion Clinical Tests
Swanicoco did some tests to study the product's effectiveness and found that 50-68% of the subjects (it doens't say out of how many subjects. :( ) answered that it effectively decreased new acne production, sebum control, and decrease greasy skin. In addition, tests found that the skin condition for subjects did not worsen after using the product (which is good, I suppose? XD ) while sebum control improved by 23%. I really like how they mention sebum control, cause that's the biggest difference from using the product that I've seen!

Performance

I've been using this together with the toner and I have to say I'm a bigger fan of the toner than the emulsion. It doesn't appear to add much to my routine and it's claim to be able to control acne isn't as effective as I'd like it to be. I'm still breaking out despite using this in my routine daily, which I know is not it's fault, but does sort of makes it fail a little at the 'acne-control' part of it's name.

However, I have to say it works well as a final layer of my skincare routine. I have oily skin and this helps keep my skin moisturized without being too heavy. It helps with sebum production and is able to absorb into my skin without leaving a residue (as pictured below).

On the other hand, this smells wonderfully of tea tree and absorbs pretty well as long as I'm using a reasonable amount. I've taken to mixing two drops of Olivarrier Squalene Oil with the emulsion and using those two together. My skin's super supple and moisturized.

As I mentioned, the product does great at sebum control and also helps keep my skin hydrated without causing additional breakouts. On the other hand, I will have to admit that through no fault of this, my skin condition has worsened. It's a combination of stress and lack of sleep that's causing more breakouts on my cheeks and while this doesn't worsen my skin, it doesn't really help in the healing process either. Still looking for something to help with that, but in the meantime, the toner and emulsion from Swanicoco has been pretty good at keeping the breakouts under somewhat of a little control? I'd experience no pain /stinging applying this on skin that's breaking out, which is pretty awesome. :)

Like the toner, the emulsion is a whooping RM118.90 in Watsons Malaysia, available online and in select Watson stores. It's a little expensive, in my opinion. I will be keeping my eye out on deals though, since Watson does pretty good deals occasionally and will likely restock then!

[Store Review] Mask & Chill Sheet Mask Bundle

Verdict: 9/10
Repurchase: Yes

Full disclosure, I know about this shop because two of my wonderful fellow sheet mask addicts here in Malaysia are the founders. ^^ When they told me they were offering their own sheet mask bundle, what choice did I have other than to GRAB ONE FOR MYSELF. XD The two lovely ladies behind this venture are two of the biggest sheet mask addicts that I know, so I'm pretty much guaranteed awesome sheet masks.

They're doing a sheet mask bundle of 5 masks for RM30 on shopee for Malaysians, or $10 for non-Malaysians with free shipping. Tracking would add an additional $1.

My Purchase
One of the lovely founders, Karyn helped me choose the masks in this bundle and I'm ecstatic to get them! Since I'm in Malaysia, I purchased a RM30 sheet mask bundle from their shopee store, which offers free shipping. Yay. ^^

I believe that the mask options changes according to availability, but currently they're offering:

Tier 1: Lherboflore/Ultru/Bonvivant/Abybom Tier 2: Kpop maskTier 3: Always21/Etude House/CellpiumTier 4: LoveRecipe/BeyondTier 5: My Beauty Diary
I wanted to try Abybom masks, but they's fresh out, but I managed to snag a Bonivant mask that I'm excited to try out as well! Hopefully they'll make a reappearance in their second round!

For the second tier, I went with the 7 day masks from Kpop. Tier three I went with the Cellpium, which is a multi-cleansing mask that I will be using some time soon since it's expiring in November (Karyn warned me about the expiry date prior and I had no problem with using a mask earlier. ^^).

There's also a Beyond Herb Garden Calendula mask and My Beauty Diary Royal Pearl Mask.

As of now, they've sold more than half their stock for these mask bundles, so if you're interested, definitely get them before they're all gone! :P I know I'm looking forward to their next bundle.

[Gobdigoun Review] Gobdigoun Aging Corrector Skin Milk Conditioner & 7 Skin Method

Price: 44,000 won
(received from Gobdigoun in exchange for an honest review)
Verdict: 9/10
Repurchase: Probably

Product & Packaging

Gobdigoun is a Korean skincare brand that has been around since 2010 and produces high quality and middle to higher price ranged products. This Skin Milk Conditioner is sent to me for my honest review, but all thoughts are my own, as always.

This is a newly introduced line of product in it's aging corrector skin milk series. This Aging Corrector Skin Milk Conditioner is made with goat milk from Australia. It is rich with Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) which is good for beauty care and skin whitening. In addition it has milk protein extract, which can soften the skin.
The box is absolutely gorgeous, so much so that I've been keeping the bottle in the box so I can stare at it before I use it daily. Lol. The product itself is contained in a bottle with an opening at the top which allows for application using a cotton pad easier. However, I always feel like cotton pads are a waste of product (I'm not trying to moisturize my cotton pads!) and this kind of bottle sort of makes it so that the product spills a little. :(

Ingredients

The ingredients list is fairly long, though there doesn't seem to be anything particularly jarring in them. I really like how they have the highlights of the product written out on the bottle itself, sort of like a gentle reminder of how I'm putting nice things on my face. XD

The main ingredients in the product include Niacimamide, Goat Milk Extract, Licorice Root Extract, Oatmeal Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Olive Leaf Extract, Ceramide.

Niacinamide is an ingredient that I've been trying to incorporate into my skincare routine as it is able to reduce skin pigmentation. It is a powerful antioxidant that can enhance skin barrier function and even out skin tone.

Goat's milk has a pH level that's close to the skin's natural pH, which is well balanced for healthy human skin. It's inclusion includes EGF, which is able to work together with the Niacinamide to promote skin brightening. Licorice Root Extract is another brightening ingredient, but it also helps soothe and calm the skin. It's anti-inflmmatory properties means it can help soothe irritated skin. Another anti-inflammatory ingredient present is the willow bark extract and oatmeal extract. Both contains antimicrobial properties, which inhibits bacterial growth.

Ceramide is a naturally present component of the skin. It's necessary for their water-retention capacity and adding them to skincare products helps provide replenishing and restoring benefits according to Paula's Choice. Ceramides helps improve skin's texture, suppleness, and help calm signs of sensitivity.

Texture and Directions
As I've mentioned earlier, the texture of the product is quite watery, so much so that there's a risk of spilling too much product if a cotton pad is not used. :( I don't use cotton pads, as I've mentioned, so it's a dangerous game everytime I'm using it. Lol. That said, it feels absolutely heavenly on the skin, sinking in without leaving a sticky sensation and leaving the skin chok-chok and moisturized.

The watery texture of the conditioner means it's meant to be used as the first step of the skincare routine prior to any other products (toner step).

Another way to use this is the 7 Skin Method. This is the method in which the same product is layered multiple times on the skin, once it's  absorbed, in order for the skin to be moisturized.

The recommended use is:
Oily Skin Type: 2 TimesNormal Skin Type: 4 TimesDry Skin Type: 7 Times
I've heard of the 7 skin method but was never keen on trying it out since I enjoy the many different products in my skincare routine. However, I enjoy how the conditioner feels on my skin so much that I could layer this on my oily/combo skin 3 times and reach that perfect soft-soothed skin. ^^

Performance
I've started using everything in the Gobdigoun line of products that they've kindly sent to me and honestly, my skin has been improving more than it's been since I started my Korean skincare journey and I'm shooked! Lol. The ingredients in these are really good, but I've tried products with ingredients that're as awesome and none has worked as well as these. T.T

The stubborn cc's on my cheek is all but gone and even though I still have acne scars and pigmentation, it seems they're finally starting to fade!

While this is not my entire routine, I have been using most of these daily and my skin thanks me for it. My current routine includes :
Gobdigoun Skin Milk ConditionerGobdigoun Skin Milk LotionGobdigoun 24k Placenta Power CreamGobdigoun Aging Corrector Eye Cream
The only downside of these, honestly, is the price range, which runs a little higher than my normal skincare products. However, I've been seeing such great results from them that I'm saving up and am waiting for a good deal since they do plenty of those on their site.

[Gobdigoun Review] Gobdigoun Skincare Goat Milk & Other Products Introduction & Mini Reviews

I'm the luckiest girl in the world. When Kaga Cheng from the Marketing Department of Korean Skin Care Brand, Gobdigoun got in touch with me via email last month to ask if I'd like to review their newly launched line of Goat's Milk product, I was ecstatic. Their products are available in Myeong-dong, Seoul, South Korea, in LG Brand Skin Care Product Store.

Gobdigoun has been around since 2010 and produces high quality and middle to higher price ranged products. I am honestly swooning over everything here. The packaging is just so gloriously beautiful and the masks~ The masks are so pretty I'm not sure if I have it in me to tear them open and use them.

Without further ado, here are the products included in the pack, which I will be reviewing this week. ^^

24K Golden Cream Placenta Power

I'm especially amused by the 24k Golden Cream Placenta Power with the super fancy golden tube. My boyfriend says it smells really nice, but I can't pick up the scent for this at all. I think he was a little worried about the eye cream looking like an injection at first, then I showed him it's just an extra fancy pump tube. :D

Placenta Protein is a natural ingredient obtained through scientific system in Australia. According to it's description, it has a specific molecular structure and nucleic acid similar to that of human and this enchances the skin's immunity. In addition, it offers natural recovery, anti-aging, and detoxing effects, resulting in dermal relief and product reliability. It has 47% Centella Asiatica extract which can relieve skin dryness and moisten skin.

After using this for 3 weeks, I'm quite impressed by it's ability to moisturize my skin. The presence of Centella Asiatica allows it to calm my skin breakouts without causing further skin damage. In addition, it is moisturizing without being sticky. ^^

Placenta Power Aging Corrector Eye Cream

The eye cream is another ultra fancily packed product. This placenta power aging corrector eye cream claims to be effective on almost every type of wrinkle, including forehead lines, crow's feet, eye bags, mouth frowns, vertical lines, tear troughts, neck lines, and folds. It also contains sheet placenta present in the 24K cream.

The application of this also so luxurious that I'm pretty pleased with it. The knob at the end turns so that the tube can be pressed and that allows cream to be pumped from the tip. This application allows direct application without waste any product at all. I'm wiling to let the bothersome nature of this application pass due to it's fabulous-ness. A regular pump bottle would've worked just as well.

Aging Corrector Skin Milk Conditioner

According to the product description, goat milk (of which main substance is biologically similar to human breast milk), ceramide, and milk protein extract are easily and smoothly absorbed by the skin to soften the dermal condition. Furthermore, niacinamide, vitamin C and white flower lily of the valley, and magnolia flower can help brighten skin.

There are plenty of wonderful ingredients in this conditioner, which is a lotion (or a toner) with a water-like texture that just absorbs perfectly into the skin. I have been applying this for the past month and my skin is always super soft after application. It absorbs without leaving a sticky residue and it actually one of the first conditioners that I've ever used that's given me instantly baby soft skin.

Aging Corrector Skin Milk Facial Lotion

The aging corrector skin milk facial lotion continas argan oil and avocado oil, which can boost the balance between skin oil and moisture. In addition, it contains goat milk extract to maintain skin elasticity. Like the conditioner, it contains niacinamide, vitamin c, white flower complex extracted from peony flower, lily of the valley flower, and lily magnolia flower which provides whitening.

There is a little less product in this lotion compared to the conditioner, but I can see it lasting a lot longer since it has a creamy emulsion-like texture that doesn't require too much for my whole face. I have been using a single pump that I add with Olivarriier Squalene oil, which allows both products to spread wonderfully on my skin and create a protective barrier (of sorts). ^^ That means most days, I can just end my routine with this.

Gobdigoun 3D Black Science Mask

According to it's description, this Gobdigoun 3D Mask is designed to seamlessly fit facial surface to help the 3D Black Science Mask boost the absorption of nutritional ingredients into dermal layers. Furthermore, its systematic structure covers for all parts of the skin. This product contains volcanic mineral and diamond, as well as pumpkin and fruit extracts that can brighten and purify the skin tone.

Gobdigoun Water Balloon Aqua Mask

The aqua series mask is made from oleacrcea extra and with hazel flowers water, which improves skin hydration, soothes skin and increases skin elasticity as well as nourishment.

Gobdigoun Water Balloon Whitening Mask

The whitening series contains vitamin B3 extract, which is able to whiten skin.

Current Skin Routine

Right now, I'm using the Goat Milk Aging Corrector Skin Milk Conditioner, Aging Corrector Skin Milk Facial Lotion and the 24k Cream. In the mornings, I add a sunscreen while I add the eye cream at night. ^^

My skin has definitely improved since I started using this! I look forward to using all the steps in my skincare routine and will review each product individually. ^^

Among the products of Gobdigoun, 24K Golden Cream of Placenta Power and Placenta Cellulose Gel Mask, are the best selling products in China, Taiwan and Japan's market. They're also available for purchase via their facebook page.
