[Review] Guardian Snail Mucus Moisturising Face Mask

Price: RM5.70
Verdict: 0/10
(Skip to Performance to find out why)
Repurchase: Lol. No way.

Price

I bought this from Guardian during one of their 3 for 2 sales. It's normally priced at RM8.50 per mask. Guardian does quite a lot of buy 1 get 1 free mask, I've tried another mask from this line and I remember being quite happy with it. I have now sworn off all Guardian masks... once I'm done with my stash.

Purchased from: Guardian
Samples: None.
Delivery Time: Not Applicable (bought in-store)

Fit & Texture

The mask it made with pure and natural cellulose tencel sheet, which, as you can see, is somewhat transparent. The snail mucus does has a sticky sensation on it but the sheet mask itself feels nice and soothing on my palm. I've put this in the fridge for a little while before so it was cooling on top of that.

The mask fit very well on my face and I really enjoyed how the mask feels. The essence felt smooth and moisturizing and the mask itself had a faint perfumy scent. There are ample essence leftover in the package and I smeared that on my neck and hands. Bad, bad mistake.

Ingredients

I had a little trouble looking for the ingredients for this mask since it is no longer available on Guardian's online store for some weird reason. I do, however, have the package still so here you go. :)

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor oil, Phenoxyethanol, Arginine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrlate Crosspolymer, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Trehalose, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Sacccharomyces/Camellaia Sinesis Extract Ferment Filtrate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Allantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium EDTA, Parfum, Scultellaria Baicalensis Root Extract,Yucca Vera Extract, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, 1,2-Hexanediol.

I checked the ingredients on Cosdna here and there was only butylene glycol as a possible acne trigger.

Performance

This particular mask is the Yuca Vera Extract, which promises intense moisturization. The Snail Mucus is supposed to enhance skin elasticity and reduce the depth and appearance of wrinkles as well as improve skin smoothness. It achieved a total of ZERO of that. Why?

Because my skin rejected this mask the moment it touched my face. At first I thought the tingling sensation was from putting it in the fridge. As I took a picture of how the mask fit on my face, I began to notice pink undertones on the mask. I thought, "Oh, that's cute. The mask is slightly pink."
NOPE. My face was quickly turning red. I pulled it off immediately, and washed the serum off my face.

This mask gets a zero out of ten. I didn't know I could hate anything more than the Guardian Jeju masks I've tried but this one... this takes the cake. I have never reacted so drastically to anything before in my life, so while I understand everybody's skin is different, I would caution you against trying this mask. The fact that it's no longer available on the guardian online store is suspicious. I have seen still being sold in stores though. Avoid. Avoid at all costs.

Immediately after washing this, I put on an Innisfree Green Tea Mask to soothe the redness and it definitely worked. Stupid Guardian masks. I would give it negative a million points if I could. Actually... I can do anything I want!

Price: RM5.70
Verdict: negative one million /10

[Review] My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Mask

Price: RM1.49 per sheet
(After a lot of coupon discounts. RM44.70/30)
Verdict: 7/10
Repurchase: Maybe, but not anytime soon.

Price

Picture from Yesstyle.com
I bought this from a store that was clearing out the last of his stock on 11street. That said, the store is no longer selling anything. I bought 3 because that was the threshold needed to reach free shipping and it needed to be the same product for it to stack. I managed to use a shit-load of coupons, as you can see, so each mask ended up being RM1.49, which is just ridiculously cheap.

There are 10 masks per box and I ended up with 30 masks total.

Purchased from: A store that's no longer active on 11street.my :( I should've bought more stuff from them before they closed.
Samples: None.
Delivery Time: 2 weeks

Fit & Texture

The package is individually wrapped and soaked with essence. There were a few drops leftover so I just dripped it over the mask while it was already on my face. The mask itself was fairly thick compared to the My Scheming Masks that I've tried. The texture is comfortable, however, and did not feel too heavy.

It has a sweet strawberry milk scent that was not too overwhelming and went away after a little while. As for fit, it didn't really manage to cover my entire face. The folds also seem to have a problem adhering to my face or even adhering on each other. Nevertheless, I enjoyed having it on for ~30 minutes.

Ingredients

Purified Water, Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, 1,3 Butylene Glycol, Triethanol amine, Tween 20, Yogurt, Hyaluronic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Algae, Malva sylvestris, Arctostaphylos uva ursi, Saccharum officinarum, Acer Saccharum, Citrus medica Limonum, Vaccinium myrtillus, Styrene/acrylates copolymer, Dimethylsilanol hyaluronate, Propyl Paraben, Methyl Paraben, Carbomer, Polyglutamic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance, Fragariavria vesca Fruit Extract, Citrus Anrantium Dulcis Fruit Extract Sheet Mask

It has Propylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, and sodium lactate, which some people may be allergic to. In addition, the preservative and antimicrobial used is iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, which may cause sensitivity.

Performance

My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Mask claims to whiten and refine skin as well as control excessive sebum secretion. It's suitable for normal skin and combination skin. Unfortunately, I didn't notice a significant whitening effect but it did help with sebum secretion. I have already finished a box of this mask (with the help of my mom and sister) and the after-effects of the masks just wasn't significant enough for me to feel like taking an after-picture was warranted.

While I preferred the thinner texture of My Scheming masks, I enjoyed the Strawberry Yogurt Masks a good deal. It had ample amount of essence in the mask and after taking it off, my skin felt hydrated. It was, however, a little sticky. Not uncomfortably so, but still sticky. Thankfully, the stickiness went away after a little while.

Did it do what it promised? Somewhat, I suppose. It had a mild whitening effect and was calming to have on. I suppose after about 10 of these mask, I was a bit tired of it but the mask just wasn't so impressive to begin with.

The main function of the mask, balancing and oil control, was achieved though, so I'm giving it a reasonable 7 out of 10. I wouldn't be repurchasing this anytime soon since I still have about 18 to go through.

Price: RM1.49 per sheet
Verdict: 7/10
Repurchase: Maybe, but not anytime soon.

[Review] My Scheming Aloe Vera + Vitamin E Mask

Price: RM2.08 per sheet
Verdict: 9.5/10
Repurchase: Yes!

Price

Picture from 11street

I bought this from TW Street at 11street.my. Warning: Mini rant ahead. It's part of a 24 mask package called and is being sold under My Scheming Scheming Awards mask into 24 groups. A mouthful, sure, but it explains exactly what you'll be getting, which in this case is 24 My Schming masks. The thing is the price of this fluactutates A LOT. I bought this when it was priced at RM93 but discounted to RM65 and I had a RM15 discount code, which brought the price to RM50 for 24 sheet masks. Literally a day later, the price went down to RM49. If not for the discount code, I would be fuming!

There are ~10 different sheet masks in the box, so there'll be a bunch of reviews coming up shortly. :)

Fit & Texture

Like previous My Scheming Masks I've tried, I love the fit of it. It managed to cover my admittably massive forehead and felt so moisturizing to have on. I threw this in the fridge for half an hour before fitting it on my face so there's an added soothing effect there.

The texture is thin but doesn't dry as quickly as other masks I've tried. The leftover essence on the mask I poured on top of the mask prior to putting it on. The 0.5 deduction from the 10 point was due to the fragile-ness of the sheet mask. I accidentaly tore the mask in the process of getting it on. The material definitely needs some work but I do like how it felt on my skin so maybe I just need to be more gentle.

Ingredients

Picture from 11street
XANTHAN GUM、PROPYLENE GLYCOL、SODIUM HYALURONATE、CUCUMIS SATIVUS (CUCUMBER)FRUIT EXTRACT、BUTYLENE GLYCOL、ALOE BARBADENSIS FLOWER EXTRACT、TOCOPHEROL ACETATE、CETETH-20、CETETH-6、PEG-60 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL、EUPHRASIA OFFICINALIS、MORUS ALBA LEAF EXTRACT、FAGUS SYLVATICA BUD EXTRACT、CALENDULA OFFICINALIS FLOWER EXTRACT、DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHETINATE、SODIUM PCA、TRANEXAMIC ACID、ARBUTIN、HYDROXYETHYL UREA、GLYCERIN、IODOPROPYNYL BUTYLCARBAMATE、METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE 、METHYLPARABEN、WATER

Like the My Scheming Mandelic Sheet Mask, this mask contains Methylisothiazolinone (MIT), which may be triggering to some.

It also contains Butylene Glycol, which is known to cause Acne for some.

Sheet Mask Performance

Other than that fragility of the product, everything else was great. I loved having the sheet mask on. I had it on for a little under an hour before it started drying even a little. After taking it off, there was still essence left so I smeared it on my neck, ears, and arms. The essence is absorbed wonderfully and I loved having it on.

After taking it off, I felt like my skin had a nice boost of hydration. My skin soaked up the essence of the mask and it didn't leave me with a sticky sheen. The back of the mask lauds its ability to provide skin with abundant moisture, mends skin, promote metabolism and nourish skin with sufficient nutrients. Vitamin E is an essential element for ante-oxidant which brightens and whitens skin color, providing you with a lighter, smoother, and more brilliant skin.

So, did it do what it promised? Yes! I had some inflammation on my skin from my own bad skin-picking habit and this sheet mask brought down the inflammation considerably.

For the price, I'll definitely be restocking soon. The box only gave me 3 of these masks, so a restocking session is immenient. ^^

[Review] My Scheming Mandelic Acid Brightening Mask

Price: RM2.6 per sheet
Verdict: 10/10
Repurchase: Yes!

I bought this mask during a Mother's Day Exclusive Sale at 11street. The price of the mask was RM29, but I had a discount code that brought it down to RM25.81. I really shouldn't be buying more masks, but this came highly recommended on reddit and I am but a lowly sheep, eager to follow in the successful chok-chok skin of others.

Purchased From: TW Street on 11street.my
Samples: None
Delivery Time: Acceptable (I believe this took about two weeks?)

This is the first My Scheming mask I've used and I am absolutely and completely in love with it. It fit my face like a glove and felt like a second skin. The entire time I had it on, I didn't feel like tearing at my face, like some other sheet masks I've tried (*coughGuardianmaskscough*).

There's a good amount of essence left, which I smeared all over my face first before applying the mask. The mask is so thin it's almost invisible and didn't freak out my parents like other sheet masks.

When I took it off, my mom said it's as if I still had it on. It was that good. My skin, which had suffered from a stressful 'vacation' that left me with tons of cc's, were soothed and much less inflamed (from my own bad skin-picking). The instant brightening effect was no joke and lasts for a fair bit. Unfortunately, I sheet mask at night so there's only me and my family to appreciate my awesome, brightened skin.

Ingredients (from Amazon):

WATER、PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL、ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER、GLYCERIN、PEG-60 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL、UREA、JOJOBA WAX PEG-120 ESTERS、TRANEXAMIC ACID、SODIUM HYALURONATE、DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHIZATE、XANTHAN GUM、PROPYLENE GLYCOL、PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM / SODIUM POLYACRYLATE、PRUNUS SPECIOSA FLOWER EXTRACT、MANDELIC ACID、PRUNUS DOMESTICA FRUIT EXTRACT、NELUMBO NUCIFERA FLOWER EXTRACT、SASA VEITCHII LEAF EXTRACT、LILIUM CANDIDUM BULB EXTRACT、IODOPROPYNYL BUTYLCARBAMATE、METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE、FRAGRANCE.

Warning: It has Methylisothiazolinone (MIT), which is a preservative that may be triggering to some.

Instructions:

Remove protective sheet before placing the mask over a thoroughly-cleansed face. - Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes. - Remove the mask and gently massage any excess serum into the skin.

Personally, I left this on for a little more than half an hour before it started drying a little. Even then, when I took it off, there was still a lot of essence left. Enough to slather on my neck and ears.

Verdict: 10/10
Repurchase: Yes! I would marry this mask if I didn't love my SO so much already.

[Review] Guardian Malaysia Jeju Lily Face Mask, Jeju Tangerine Face Mask and Jeju Seaweed Face Mask

Price: RM4.15 per piece during 3 For 2 Promotion
Verdict: 0/10
Repurchase? No.

I bought these Guardian Masks during a brain fart moment. The price for the individual mask is RM6.20 and Guardian Malaysia was having a 3 For 2 sale. I somehow failed to think, 'oh, so it's RM12.40 for 3 masks and thought it was RM6.90 for 3 masks'. Bah. Nevertheless, I thought they'd be interesting and bought six of them. They were twice the price of what I usually budget for masks (RM2) so I had high expectations.

This Guardian Jeju Lily Face Mask is imported from Jeju Island and claims to be able to replenish essential daily nutrients on your skin and brighten tired, dull skin, leavint it radiant with a natural glow.

The main ingredients were as follows:

Aqua, glycerin, butylene glycol,peg-32, betaine, peg/ppg-17/6 coplymer, phenoxyethanol, peg-60 hydrogenated castor oil, panthenol, phormium tenax extract, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, ethylhexylglcerin, xanthan gum, parfum, allantoin, hydrolyzed collagen, sodium hyaluronate, camellia sinensis leaf extract, nelumbo nuciferra flower water, dissodium edta, dipotassium glycyrrhizate.

Instructions were to leave them on for 10-15 minutes and then remove from your face. Massage slightly to aid absorption and no rinsing required.

Let me tell you, I hated this mask with a vengeance. Even the skin on my arms and legs, which I had slathered with the excess essence, hated this mask. This was not the first of the guardian masks I've tried. I've also tried their nourishing Jeju Tangerine Face Mask and hated it.

And then I tried the ultra-soothing Jeju Tsubaki Face Mask and also hated it.

I'm not exactly a mask connoisseur. On the contrary, I've only ever tried a few store and cheaper sheet masks so I shouldn't be able to complain. But man, these masks were stuffy to keep on my face and left a sticky residue that stayed for ages! Even in an air conditioned room! Instead of achieving their promised results, my pores were clogged, my face felt sticky and uncomfortable, and I couldn't wait to get rid of them!

I will definitely not be repurchasing Guardian brand masks in a while In the meantime, I still have three more of the Guardian Jeju masks and two more Golden Cocoon masks. I hope they'll be better than these but my expectations are way down now.

Verdict: 0/10
Repurchase? No.

[Review] The Saem Vivacity Kuching Natural Gold Kiwi Mask Sheet

My mom, sis, and I went to Vivacity, Kuching the other day and walked into The Saem sell completely unplanned. I am a mask hoarder. One of these days, I'll show y'all all the masks I've bought but for now, I'll just rant about this particular mask.

They have a variety of these masks and at first I was wary since the mask is made from cotton I never really liked how cotton felt on my face. Cotton masks feels more stiffling and it tends to make me feel like I'm slowly suffocating. They were having a buy 5, get 5 free sale though and I could never resist a good sale.

My mom and sister were very quickly convinced that we should get 10, since it will be RM24.5 for 10, which means RM2.45 per sheet mask. It's a good deal, I'll give you that.

I finally came around to using this mask early this week and the smell from opening the pack was glorious... at first. Like all my masks, I banished this to the fridge half an hour before I applied it so that it would be nice and cool by the time it was time to put it on my face.

While it wasn't hot and suffocating like I had expected, the smell quickly became too much. All I could smell was the fragant, sweet, somewhat-kiwi-like scent on my nose and *shudders* even just thinking about it is giving me residue-smell memories. This was perhaps the first time I took a sheet mask off as soon as it reached the 20-minute mark because I couldn't wait to stop smelling it. It wasn't bad, but it was definitely overbearing for me.

My face felt... the same after applying this really. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't fabulous either. I felt moisturized, but I could easily feel moisturized from my moisturizers too. If anything, I felt like my pores were clogged and I need another wash after putting the mask on. :( Very disappointed. Thankfully, I bought a variety pack, so I hope the rest would be better. Now, to hide them before my mom and sister finished them off.

Love it? No.
Repurchase? Definitely not.

Malaysia Watsons Tencel Facial Mask (Nourishing Olive)

This little thing is the catalyst that caused my descend into madness ascend into beautiful skin. Watsons Tencee Facial mask is a line of affordable Watson masks made in Korea. I enjoy the simplistic design and straightforward packaging. There are a few different types of this particular line: Red Wine, Double DHA, Black Pearl, Brown Rice, Natto, Olive, ect.

I bought four of them during a Watson masks sale a few weeks back and I haven't looked back since. It costs RM6.90 per mask, but Watson does a lot of buy one get one 50% off so you could probably get them cheaper. :) This was the last of my Watson Tencel collection. Olive mask: Nourishing.
#
Picture from Watson Malaysia
The mask is made of tencel fiber, which I prefer a lot more to cotton masks given Malaysia's ridiculously hot and humid weather. It's slightly more transparent compared to cotton or silk. The texture is more airy and adheres to the skin better. Best of all, it doesn't feel like it's slowly suffocating my skin cells. Tencel has a higher absorbent rate compared to cotton and feels soooo much better.

There's 21ml essence per piece and the material doesn't quite soak up all 21ml of that, which means there's a good few (~6ml) left in the package after I removed the sheet mask from the packaging. I just smeared the rest of the essence on my neck and chin.

I put this on for a little more than 20 minutes and it was still wet when I removed it. More essence for my arms and legs. Muahaha.

Verdict: So, is it nourishing? Heck yeah! My face felt like I've just had a soak in magic water. It also doesn't leave behind that annoying sticky residue like some masks, so I didn't even need to wash my face afterwards. Yay.

I enjoyed using this a lot more than some other masks I've tried (reviews coming up shortly) and I would definitely be re-purchasing these if Watson happens to have another sale. I try to get sheet masks for RM4.00 or less since it's one of those buy and throw away things. Spending too much on them just isn't all that worth it. If you have money to burn though, you should definitely be getting these.

Love it? Yes!
Repurchase: Yes! But I'm a broke person, will buy during a sale.
