7HARA Spotlight Tone Up Cushion

I received this 7HARA Spotlight Cushion Tone Up Cushion from 08L Malaysia in exchange for an honest review, but all thoughts are my own, as always. It's available from Lazada at a discounted price of RM124.78.

When 08L offered to send me the 7HARA cushion to review, I didn't know they were going to send both the  7HARA Spolight Cover Cushion 21 Peach Beige and the 7Hara Spolight Tone Up cushion. I was estatic to receive both, but I have to admit I didn't know what the tone up was for. The question answered itself the moment I swatched this on the back of my hand. It does exactly what the name implies. It improves and lightens skin tone. ^^

7HARA is a makeup and skincare brand from Korea. It produces makeup products that comibines convenience and enjoyance with a collection of products made with plant extracts. Some of the bestselling products include the tone up cushion, cover cushion, and their lipstick series. :)

Packaging

The Tone Up Cushion comes in two separate boxes. At first I thought the additional box was a refill, but I was quickly proven wrong. The silver box, shown on the left, contains the cushion case whereas the white box is what's carrying the actual 15g cushion. In order to use the product, I was to open the silver foil and fill that into the case (shown below), which is exactly how the Cover cushion worked as well. ^^

One thing worth mentioning (that a lot of people miss) is that the mirror isn't blurry. As you can see in the picutre above, there is a protective layer over the mirror that's attached so perfectly that you wouldn't be able to tell it's there unless you scratch at a corner to take it off. Once off, you'll have a fully-functional mirror. ^^

The sponge for the 7HARA Cushion is also a little different from other formulations. It has a dual protection system with the ingredients kept nestled between the cushion so that it doesn't evaporate when unused. In addition, the moisture is locked inside the cushion and compressed within it, as illustrated by the diagram below:
I also reviewed the Cover Cushion in an earlier post linked here. To hide blemishes and scars, use the cover cushion. For brightening and a clearer complexion, use the tone up. The containers are compatible between the tone up and cover cushions, however. :)

In this review, I'll be talking about the Tone Up Cushion.

Ingredients

The ingredient list is fairly long, but two things to note is that they're certified by the Korea Ministry of Food and Drug safety and passed the test of hypoallergenic cosmetics. In addition, in lieu with 7hara's mission to break the market perception of color makeup that's bad for th skin, 7hara products the makeup product that is made with natural and safe ingredients in addition to ingredients that are able to promote healthier skin.

The Tone Up contains extracts from 5 kinds of white flowers, Japenese apricot flower (anti-aging, whitening), cheery blossom (anti-again, soothing, exfoliating), white magnolia (anti-inflammatory), lotus flower (skin purifying, minimizing redness), & peach blossom (hydrating, whitening).

In general, I tend to not think about cushions as something that's good for my face cause it's makeup. It'll make my skin look good, yeah, but it's a given that in the long run, makeup is bad for my skin. I love that skincare and makeup brands are trying to counter that perception by putting good ingredients in makeup products. Thid 7HARA cushion is actually SPF50+ PA+++ as well, so if you forget your sunscreen, it's kind of okay? It would be good to apply your sunscreen before using the cushion nevertheless!

Directions & Texture

Instructions says to first moisturize your skin with skin care products but to skip sun protection since this contains sun-protection properties, but I would suggest putting on sunscreen nevertheless. :) After skin care, gently press on the cushion sponge with an integral puff to release the liquid formula and apply onto the face along the texture of the skin. Careful not to drag the product and pat on the pad gently on your skin. :)

This lauds as a sticky-free and smooth formula, which is pretty true. I didn't find the product hard to apply or being particularly sticky after application, so I was really happy with it. The scent is... like all other bb/cc creams I've tried. Smells slightly medicinal, but the scent goes away upon application so I was fine with it. :)

Performance

The cushion is supposed to brighten skin tone, provide moisture, and give you that dewy, soft look. It applies well, as I mentioned earlier, and leaves my skin feeling healthy and glowy without being suffocating, much like the cover cushion.

I was surprised by how well this blended into my skin. I tried to take the pictures above in the same light, but pic 2 was a tad brighter. When I first applied the cushion, I thought it wasn't doing anything. Then, I realized that was perfect, because this was the right color! :D While it didn't have the same amount of coverage as the cover cushion, it was able to cover up some skin blemishes nevertheless. My skin is dewy, soft, and radiant after application!

Does it do what it does? Yeah! It gives a gorgeous, clear complexion and is basically a makeup that looks like you haven't applied make up! :D It applies wonderfully naturally and scores a perfect 10/10 in my book.

The coverage is pretty low since it focuses on giving you that natural glow, so I do think this would be the perfect tone up cushion for you, regardless of your skin tone.

7HARA Spotlight Cover Cushion #21 Peach Beige

I received this 7HARA Spotlight Cushion #21 Peach Beige from 08L Malaysia in exchange for an honest review, but all thoughts are my own, as always. It's available from Lazada at a discounted price of RM124.78.

When 08L offered to send me the 7HARA cushion to review, I was beyond estatic. I've been dealing with a bunch of breakouts on my cheeks recently and have been having a problem of not knowing how to hide them and the cushion could not have arrived at a more opportune time.

7HARA has another cushion called the 7HARA Spolight Tone Up Cushion. The cover cushion covers, whereas the tone up cushion tones. ^^ It's pretty self-explanatory. To hide blemishes and scars, use the cover cushion. For brightening and a clearer complexion, use the tone up. The containers are compatible between the tone up and cover cushions, however. :)

In this review, I'll be talking about the 21 Peach Beige.

Performance

The cushion is supposed to brighten skin tone, provide coverage and create a luminous skin. It can cover blemishes and glides on skin without stickiness. It applies well, as I mentioned earlier, and leaves my skin feeling healthy and glowy without being suffocating.

I wasn't expecting #21 to be a perfect fit, since my skin tone seems to fall awkwardly between #21 and #23, depending on the brand, so I was pleasantly surprised when the color ended up not being too bad on my skin. It does leave my skin tone a tad too bright, but as long as I continue to apply cushion all the way down my neck, it shouldn't be too obvious. ^^

As you can see from the picture on the left, I'm suffering from a mild breakout that's just obvious enough to be annoying. After applying the cushion, my breakouts were a lot less glaring. It also made my skin more glowy~ The sheer coverage helps even out skin tone and makes me feel like a spotlight it focused on my skin. Lol. So glowy~

Ahhh. I was so pleased with the condition it left my skin in that I went on to apply eyeliner and a lipstick afterwards. XD

The only reason why it's not sitting on a perfect 10/10 is that the color still feels a tad too light for me and it never quite oxidizes enough for that to go unnoticed. In addition, the limited shades (shade?) of #21 Peach Beige means I can't try a shade above to see if that'll work better either. Even so, I'm glad to have this cushion in my makeup box. ^^

[Review - HG Product] Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch

(Use affiliated coupon: C10T190S3 for 8% off)
Verdict: 10/10
Repurchase: Yes

Price & Shop

I bought this from BBCosmetic for $3.95 with an additional 8% discount using the code C10T190S3 to bring the price down to $3.63, which is the cheapest I've seen these patches anywhere. This is actually the third patch that I own. I gave half of my first patch to a friend and she loved it so much she bought a set of 10 from BBCosmetic during their Christmas sale so she'll never run out. You can get 10 for $25.79 ($23 after discount code), which puts the price down to $2.30 per piece.

For those of you unaware with the free international shipping store, check out my review of them here. TL;DR: They're amazing.

Packaging & Ingredients

Packaging is very simple and no-nonsense, as is with most Cosrx products that I've tried. The plastic re-sealable bag keeps thin slip of 24 circular acne patches. The acne patches themselves are protected by a transparent plastic shield that keeps it clean and sanitary. I actually really like how clean everything is, but the packaging is really a fair amount bigger than the product, as you can see in the picture below. It's a small nitpick, but I feel like there's no need for the packaging to be so huge.

There are 9 large patches for the bigger blemishs which I've been using on my cheeks where multiple pimples may show up at once. T.T The five medium patches are perfect for average zits while the ten smallest patches is what I use on the whitheads that I can't help but pick. ><

The only active ingredient here is cellulose gum, which helps the patch stick to the skin, a job that it's incredibly good at. Inactive ingredients include Styrene Isoprene Styrene Block Copolymer, Polysobutylene, Petroleum Resin, Polyurethane Film, Liquid Paraffin, Tetrakis Methane, none of which are trigger according to cosdna.

Directions

Directions are simple enough to understand. Cleanse the area around the acne blemishs and pimples, Select a patch of larger size than the acne blemishes and pimples and adhere the patch to those areas and then leave the patches on overnight/until a bump appears to absorb the impurities and gross stuff from your skin.

I usually have this on after I use my essenses and before my last/thickest cream and the patch has no problem staying on. The patches are most effective when used on a lanced/popped pimple/acne, but I do apply them to pimples that're painful to touch, just so I won't accidentally pop it via scratching. ><

Performance

If you can't tell already, I'm a pretty big fan of the Cosrx Acne Pimple Patches. It's used to cover acne to protect the ski nfrom bacteria and dirt. It also acts to absorb impurities from the skin and prevent further infection. This Hydrocolloid material secures the wound and prevents  a second infection, which was something I had a problem with since I pick at my skin a fair bit. I know I shouldn't, but I still do it. Having the patch on stops me from causing further injury on my skin. I've actually had acne that disappear completely instead of coming to head from using these patches. It's magic.

Applied to popped pimples, the patch speeds up the healing process by absorbing exudation and promotes healing without causing a scar. This is actually true as promised. Pimples that I stick these patches to tend to heal faster without leaving a scar. The non-irritating drressing absorbs water and swells up, then is removed easily. Because it's made of transparent material, this can be applied even in the morning, though I usually only use this at night cause I'm embarrassed.

This is definitely a Holy Grail product for me and one that I will continue repurchasing as long as I'm still dealing with pimple/acne problems.
