Price & Shop

I bought these from BB Cosmetic during their Facebook 50% off deal. It's sold for $6.88 per piece and $5.50 after the 8% coupon code with free shipping, which is quite a good deal. I got it on an even better deal since BB Cosmetic's facebook event brought the price to $3.90. I had been meaning to try out foot peeling masks for a fair bit, but the ones I've seen in stores go for upwards of $10+. At $3.90, I snatched one right up.

These plastic socks contains ingredients that works to remove layers of cellulose (and dead skin) from the soles of the feet and make them baby soft.

Ingredients & Directions

Ingredients from thefaceshop.ca: Water/Eau, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Mineral Oil, Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Sorbitan Stearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Dimethicone, Urea, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Salicylic Acid, Panthenol, Allantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Soluble Collagen, Triethanolamine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Polysorbate 20, Disodium Edta, Propylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Parfum/Fragrance

It's fairly easy to use this product. Even the pictures make it easy. ^^ On the other hand, I've read some reviews elsewhere and users suggest using this post showers/baths so that the feet are properly cleaned and skin softened prior to using. I used these after showering, putting one on each feet, then pouring the accompanying bags of liquid into the plastic socks.

Usage-wise, these were fairly easy. The only downside to these socks are that I had to plan ahead to do absolutely nothing for the half hour or so after wearing the socks since I couldn't well move with these wet bags on my feet. Most reviews I'd read said to keep them on for 45 minutes instead of the suggested 30 in order to let the liquid soak a little better.

Texture and Experience

Having plastic wrapped on my feet made me feel like I'm being punished for something. The socks are fairly big, which you can probably see, but not too big. About 15 minutes in, the liquid started to burn a little! The part of my skin that had been chafed from my sandles tingled more than a little. The soles of my feet, which was the target of the peeling masks felt completely fine. I could feel my feet turning pruny but when I had them off 45 minutes later, my feet were absolutely fine.

I washed off the residue liquid from my skin and everything was fine. There were no redness or irritation and my feet weren't pruny at all.

Behold! My foot peeling! Yeah, it's not as gross as I had expected. This is about as bad as it got, really. I wasn't supposed to peel off the dead skin and I've restrained from doing so... for the most part. Most of the peeling happened on the soles of my feet and the majority of my callouses are gone after approximately two weeks. The peeling started a little more than a week after applying the mask.

The top of my feet were absolutely fine with no peeling. The cracks on the corners of my heels were pretty much gone by the end of the peeling process. Overall a great, albeit a little icky, experience. I've also been using lotion and soft socks at night while I sleep, so the softness on my feet remained. I do feel like I should be gentler with my skin after it's done peeling though!

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Works as it should. Feet feels softer after peeling.

Cons

  • A little expensive for a one-time-use product. (-0.5)
  • I really didn't enjoy the tingling/burning sensation I had while having the sock on, even though my feet were fine after. (-0.5)
  • Peeling only started after a week and lasted for a week, which meant a week of being careful about shedding dead skin everywhere (-1)

Repurchase: Yes. But maybe I'll try a different brand next time. The Tony Moly Foot Peel is $7.19 and the Double Effect Foot Peeling Mask is only $3.99 so I might give the latter a try. ^^
